Embrace the “spirit of the season” when Voctave performs live Dec. 5

A cappella sensation Voctave brings artistic arrangements of favorite songs to life.

asc voctaveA cappella sensation Voctave will bring “the spirit of the season” and perform live in concert Monday, Dec. 5, presented by the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.

The concert is set for 7 p.m. Tickets are $20, $30 and $40, with $10 student tickets. UAB employees can enjoy $15 off two tickets. Discounted tickets are limited. Call 205-975-2787 or visit AlysStephens.org for tickets.

Voctave is an 11-member a cappella group from the central Florida area. With multiple No. 1 songs and albums on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify, Voctave has also ranked in the top 25 on Billboard Magazine’s charts. Their videos have received more than 150 million views, and their albums are available digitally on all platforms. 

Their album “The Spirit of the Season, Deluxe Edition” reached No. 6 on the Billboard charts, with songs including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Merry Christmas, Darling,” “Carol of the Bells Notre Dame,” “I’ll be Home for Christmas,” “Childhood Favorites,” “Mary Did You Know,” “All Is Well,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” “O Holy Night,” “This is My Wish/Let There Be Peace on Earth” and more.  

Their previous album, “The Corner of Broadway & Main Street Vol. 2,” debuted at No. 3 on the iTunes charts. The Voctave album “Snow” features favorite secular and traditional holiday classics, such as “Jingle Bells,” “Let it Snow,” “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World” and many others.

Formed in 2015 by producer and arranger Jamey Ray, the voices that bring the artistic arrangements to life represent a wealth of diverse backgrounds and musical experiences, according to the group’s artist statement. Performing with Ray in Voctave are E.J. Cardona, Tiffany Coburn, Ashley Espinoza, Karl Hudson, Chrystal Johnson, Kate Lott, Drew Ochoa, Aaron Stratton, Kurt Von Schmittou and Sarah Whittemore. The 11 members have roots in musical theater, contemporary Christian music, barbershop, pop and choral music, and have performed across the globe and appear on countless recordings. Voctave has performed with Grammy, Dove and American Music Award recipients including Sandi Patty, Pentatonix’s Kirstin Maldonado, Mark Lowry, David Phelps and Jody McBrayer.
