Identity Theft Prevention Policy
UAB's Identity Theft Prevention Policy facilitates the University’s Identity Theft Prevention Program to detect, prevent, and mitigate identity theft in connection with the opening of certain accounts and the maintenance of certain existing accounts.
Institutional Refund Policy
This policy details the restrictions and limitations of the Institutional Refund Policy for students withdrawing from classes.
Licenses / Certifications
UAB may pay an employee's license fee provided that certain conditions are met. If the required conditions are not met, then the cost of the license (or license renewal) must be treated as a personal expense.
Mandatory Direct Deposit Policy
UAB employees and trainees are required to participate in payroll direct deposit. An employee's pay is deposited directly into his or her bank account on each pay day.
Payment Card Processing and Security Policy
This policy mandates compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards for all UAB merchants in order to securely protect and maintain cardholder data during payment card processing, storage, or transmission.
Personal Benefit
It is against UAB policy for employees to receive special benefits as a result of making travel reservations, arrangements for functions at UAB, or for making purchasing decisions. This policy describes the type of purchases that are considered UAB gifts and those that are of a personal nature, which cannot be reimbursed by the university.
Personal Services Approval and Payment Policy - Non-UAB Employee
Financial Affairs must approve all independent contractors. Application for requesting to be treated as an independent contractor must be made on the form provided by Financial Affairs.
Personal Services Approval and Payment Policy-UAB Employee
Current UAB employees should be paid through the UAB payroll system for all services, except those services entitled to independent contractor treatment regardless of the person's UAB employment status.
Professional and Consulting Contracting Policy
Certain situations require the need for professional and consultant services (independent contractors). This policy outlines the definition of these services, the minimum amount needed to establish a written contract, and the procedures to be followed in managing such services.
Severance Pay and Benefits Policy for Nonfaculty Employees
UAB provides severance pay and benefits for full-time regular nonfaculty exempt (monthly paid) employees and non-exempt (bi-weekly paid) employees.
