UAB and our community college partners are committed to providing you with the service and assistance necessary for you to make a successful transition from earning your associate’s degree to working towards your bachelor’s degree.

Admission to Joint Admission

UAB offers two pathways to participating in Joint Admission:

Pathway One

High school seniors who live in the state of Alabama and have applied to UAB as freshmen, but do not meet the minimum admission requirements, may be offered admission to the Joint Admission Program. Once an offer letter is received, simply accept your offer.

DEADLINE: Must accept your offer no later than July 1.

 

Pathway Two

Qualified students currently enrolled in one of our partnering community colleges must meet following requirements to be considered for the Joint Admission Program:

  • Currently enrolled as a fulltime student at your community college.
  • Completed a maximum of 30 semester hours of college coursework.
  • Earned at least an overall GPA of 2.0.
  • Have not attended a 4-year institution since graduating from high school.

TO APPLY:

  • Submit a Joint Admission Application.
  • Submit a transcript (official or unofficial) from your community college to:

DEADLINES:

  • Fall semester October 15
  • Spring semester March 15

 

Requirements of the Program

  • Obtain your UAB One-Card during your first semester in the program.
  • Maintain continuous full-time enrollment during the fall and spring terms at your chose partner community college (student cannot drop below full time status or have a break in enrollment).
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.0.
  • Meet regularly with your community college academic advisor and UAB Joint Admission counselor.
  • Submit a copy of your community college transcript to your Joint Admission counselor every semester.
  • Apply and be admitted to UAB upon completion of the program.

 

Joint Admission Scholarships

Scholarships to UAB are exclusively available for Joint Admission students who meet the following requirements:

  • be continuously enrolled at a partner community college for a minimum of one year;
  • fulfill all requirements of the program;
  • earn a non-technical associate’s degree with a minimum, overall GPA of 3.0;
  • be admitted to UAB as a transfer student by the appropriate admission deadline; and
  • submit your final transcript with associate’s degree reflected by the following deadlines:
