Students whose families have experienced a major change in income due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic may submit a COVID-19 Income Reduction Request. The request will be evaluated based on expected income during 2020 including unemployment benefits and any documentation submitted. For more information, visit our Appeals page.

UAB has been awarded the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The goal of CCAMPIS is to assist low-income, undergraduate students with child-care expenses so that they persist and graduate. Applicants will be selected based on need and space availability. Because of fund limitations, not all who apply will be selected.

The CCAMPIS grant is meant to keep parents in school by assisting them with the cost of child care. There are many Pell-eligible UAB student parents who would benefit from child-care assistance.

  • Services

The CCAMPIS Program has three services to help serve the child-care needs of Pell-eligible UAB student parents.

Services will be provided at The James Rushton Early Learning and Family Success Center located at 5512 1st Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35212, (205) 730-0926. (CCAMPIS tuition subsidy up to $800 per month. Child-care fees are paid directly to the child-care provider.)
    • Child care for children aged six weeks to five years of UAB Pell-eligible students who are also UAB employees

  • Confidentiality

Information student parents provide about their personal finances on the CCAMPIS application will be kept confidential.

    Disbursement

Awards are disbursed based on classroom availability in the center and financial need of the applicant.
