Leadership edgeUAB Learning & Development is launching a leader certificate program this month for supervisors and managers. The Leadership Edge is a five-month program to help participants shift their thinking, priorities and communication to accelerate success in their new role.

The program consists of four face-to-face seminars and two webinars. Topics include the UAB Leadership Model, available management resources, working with individuals and teams and achieving results.

Sessions start Jan. 24 and run through May 16. Class size limited to 30. Manager approval is required to register; managers will be invited to a graduation luncheon. Register online.

Registration also is open for two other Learning & Development leadership programs: Management Fundamentals and Leading at All Levels.

  • Management Fundamentals is a certificate program for managers at all levels that combines live workshops with curated online learning to allow participants to learn at their own pace. Management Fundamentals sessions begin Jan. 29; for a complete schedule is online.
  • Leading at All Levels is three-part series focused on leadership essentials designed for experienced and aspiring UAB leaders. The next Leading at All Levels cohort begins Jan. 15, with additional sessions scheduled for Feb. 19 and March 12.

Registration for both programs is open on UAB’s Learning System (LMS).

The programs have been praised by past participants since launching this past year, said Organizational Development Specialist William Edwards. “Participants report feeling better equipped to lead as a result of their experience,” he said.
