UAB is a destination for academically talented students, and we love to reward your hard work. We recognize National Merit Finalists and National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars with the UAB Presidential Scholarship for National Scholars, which provides:

  • Full tuition and academic fees (up to 15 credit hours per semester), for a total of 8 semesters (fall and spring only)
  • A one-year on-campus housing award at the freshman rate for your first year
  • A one-year $1,000 Provost First-Year Scholarship
  • A one-time $2,500 stipend to be used for experiential learning, such as education abroad programs, internships, and co-ops

Students must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or enrolled in high schools within the U.S to receive these awards. Scholarship eligibility is subject to the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.

This scholarship will replace an ACT & GPA-based award of equal or lesser value. Once you’ve been admitted to UAB, simply do the following to claim your scholarship:

National Merit Finalists: Name UAB your first choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation; the paperwork for this should be included with your finalist letter. They’ll then send us your name, and we will award your scholarship. (NMSC sends rosters to UAB on a rolling basis, beginning in early March.)

National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars: Email or mail us a copy of your notification letter and certificate, and we’ll award your scholarship:
