I am passionate about...Writing, Reading, and Volunteering
I am interested in (affiliated student organizations/groups on campus)...community service (elder/youth populations), research, and am I involved in BWOMEN
I chose UAB because...I chose UAB because of the opportunities to explore both my professional and academic interests. Since I have been here, I have taken the initiative to network and really pursue any opportunities that come my way, and it has paid off significantly. I have shadowed clinicians, learned more about my research interests, and am learning something new each day that I am here. UAB has given me the opportunity to take initiative over my future and explore all that interests me.
Biggest college/adult related fear you have overcome at UAB?I had a fear of crossing the road. I will not elaborate, but it was something that always concerned me since I was not from the city. But, my first week, I got over it pretty quickly and now cross the roads without that fear. That said, I still look both ways like you're supposed to- do not cross the road blindly!
Something I am looking forward to at UAB is...I am looking forward to growing. I feel like when I graduated high school that I did not really make any memories or look beyond "the next step". It was always the ACT, joining three organizations, and graduating. I did not view that time in high school as my own. Since I have been here, I am more present and that has made my time more valuable. I look forward to seeing how that pays off and I encourage anyone who is always planning that "next step" to realize that you are taking that step. I think this realization is going to make these upcoming years more meaningful and special!
