Eight first-year medical students have been selected as recipients for the 2019 Medical Student Enrichment Program Scholarship. The chosen students will complete either the Social Medicine Elective at Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic (DR) or the Chung Shan Medical University Hospital Elective in Taichung, Taiwan.

Two School of Medicine have been elected to become members of the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI). Orlando Gutierrez, M.D., MMSc, is a professor in the Division of Nephrology, and Erik Roberson, M.D., is a professor in the Department of Neurology.

It’s like sorting students into Hogwarts houses, with your own mascot and faculty mentor! The LC program allows you to build stronger relationships with your classmates in a smaller group setting within a large class.

UAB International Medical Education (IME) recently welcomed back eight medical students from their international clinical training electives in Kenya, Zambia and Peru. These fourth-year medical students were awarded scholarships by UAB IME to travel and train in Africa and South America.
