The Communications team leads strategic communications efforts for the school, particularly those relating to the Dean’s Office, Admissions, Advancement, Medical Education, and more. We also work closely with University Relations and the Health System Marketing Team to generate coordinated, unified messaging across our academic medical center. Our team maintains the School of Medicine website, produces the weekly newsletter, and manages the school's social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. We also create a variety of publications such as UAB Medicine Magazine and the school’s Annual Report. News & Event Promotion

We work with faculty, staff, students, residents, and fellows to promote stories about the school through our newsletter, news website, magazine, annual report and social media platforms. The team also helps announce special events and provides general announcements internally.

Web Edits & Support

Our team works closely with UAB Web Operations and Web Communications. We set the look and feel for all School of Medicine sites.

Web edits: we only make content edits to the School of Medicine Home site. If you have an edit request for another site, email us and we'll connect you with their site manager.

Web support: we provide technical support for site issues on all School of Medicine Joomla sites, and we are happy to provide recommendations and best practices for your site updates.

Donor & Alumni Communications

We work closely with School of Medicine Advancement to produce materials for donor and alumni relations. These include items such as proposals, brochures, invitations, save the dates, posters, etc. Some of the larger proposals require several rounds of drafting and editing, so we ask that you please submit these requests as far in advance as possible. We are aware that many advancement requests are "last-minute" and will always do our best to accommodate these as our capacity allows.
