If you are applying or re-applying to UAB and have a baccalaureate degree from either UAB or another institution then you are considered a Post-Baccalaureate student. Post-baccalaureate students are listed as either degree seeking or non-degree seeking.
If you are pursuing a major or certificate program in either the School of Education or the School of Business, you should be listed under a major in one of those schools.
Post-Baccalaureate Degree Seeking Students
If you have a baccalaureate degree and wish to seek a second baccalaureate degree you should be listed as or apply as a degree seeking student. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in all college coursework attempted.

Non-Degree Seeking Post-Baccalaureate Students
If you have a baccalaureate degree and wish to
- meet prerequisites for advanced programs or
- satisfy requirements for professional certification
you should apply or be listed as a non-degree seeking student. Applicants must submit an official transcript from the college or university from which the baccalaureate degree was earned.
Registration for classes
If you are a non-degree post-baccalaureate and wish to register for a class with specific prerequisites then there may be registration holds on these classes. If you are trying to register for a class and cannot due to a pre-requisite hold, contact the Registrar’s Office at 205-934-8222. Some classes may require clearance from the specific department or school in which the class is listed.
