K_JaimesMy nearly 20 years of research experience includes working on the role of nitric oxide in mesangial cell proliferation, the mechanisms of angiogenesis as mediated by VEGF in cardiac cells, as well as various autoimmune diseases. Before coming to UAB I worked for 7 years at the Univ. of Miami, with 5 of those years spent in a lab specializing in lupus and MCTD studies. Over the years I have gained experience in a wide variety of techniques used in research today, and I am always ready to learn something new. I joined Dr. Aller's lab in September, 2009 to work on the challenging problems of expressing mammalian integral membrane proteins in yeast. I manage Dr. Aller's laboratory, organize our many yeast clones and glycerol stocks, train incoming graduate students and more... I enjoy hiking, biking, movies and doing just about anything with my family.
