CBSE Engineering was awarded a delivery order by NASA to build and test the Space Suit Oxygen System Test Rig (SSOSTR). CBSE was teamed with Hamilton Sundstrand to provide automated, safe, and efficient testing of advanced suit components at high pressures and varying oxygen levels. The Cold-Trap system purifies facility supplied pressurized gaseous oxygen, nitrogen, or heliox by bringing fluid temperature below -75oC to condense and remove non-volatile residue (NVR) before the gas is introduced to the main SSOSTR.

The system will be integrated into an autonomous cart that interfaces to the main SSSOSTR and facilitie's fuid supply. Active stirling cooler technology is utilized to remove heat from process fluids. CBSE completed this project in 2012.
