Use Tapingo to skip the dining line
Your class just ended, and you got held up a little asking your professor a question afterward, but you might have enough time to squeeze in a quick lunch before rushing to the other side of campus for your next class. You swing by the cafeteria only to find 20 people already in line ahead of you, and the guy at the front looks like he can't make up his mind.
Why not skip the line?
Download the free Tapingo app to your phone and you could place your food order and pay before you even walk in the door (or from the back of the line, making those in front of you jealous they hadn't thought of it).
Here's a short video explaining how it works (if you're tired of hearing "Gangam Style," turn your volume down).
Seven UAB and campus-area restaurants are already using Tapingo to accept orders, including the HUC Cafe, The Diner, ZeBi, Starbucks UAB, Einstein Brothers Bagels, Wings Around the Clock, and Makarios. Logging into the Tapingo app will automatically pull your location and generate a list of nearby participating venues.
You can also sync Tapingo with a variety of payment options, so it will automatically deduct your bill from your UAB Dining Dollars, Blazer Bucks, credit or debit card, or even PayPal.
Tapingo is available for free in Apple's App Store for iPhone and in Google Play for Android. Don't have a smart phone? You can use Tapingo from your computer too, via their web site.
So next time you're in a hurry, skip the line. And instead take time to chew your food.
