Video Transcript - UAB MAc

Accounting is the language of business. You can choose any career you want. It's a major that allows you a lot of flexibility in your choice of career.

Our accounting program is one of the largest majors at UAB. Students come from all over the country, and we have many international students as well to pursue the accounting major.

Being in Birmingham allows us to have a really strong internship program. Almost all of our students do internships. We encourage that and we help place them with employers while they're at UAB. Almost all of our accounting students end up with jobs when they graduate.

The professors at UAB have been phenomenal. The professors' research outside of the classroom and their experience within the field, they bring that into the classroom and that enables us to learn so much more and get so much more out of the classroom. They are concerned with your well-being and your career. They've helped me meet with many people outside of the classroom, and they've created so many opportunities for us to meet with the firms within the city.

I finished my degrees here at UAB, and before I even graduated, I already accepted the job at Ernst & Young because of all the opportunities that I've been able to meet with them and they've gotten to know me. I think one of the big reasons why they feel confident accepting students before they graduate is because they know the students they get from UAB. They are very well prepared and they're more than capable of going into the industry.

Few people in the business world understand numbers and put that knowledge to work like accountants. Behind the scenes, accounting professionals hold crucial roles in the success of any business, but developing that expertise doesn’t happen overnight. The Master of Accounting degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Collat School of Business can help expand your analytical, business, and leadership skills — assets that can positively impact your success in the field. Get a first-rate education with an accounting degree that can help you build your expertise and further your career.

The UAB Collat School of Business holds a separate accounting accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the highest honor a business school can achieve for its accounting programs.
