Patrice Knight, M.D., longtime regional chair of Pediatrics at the UAB Heersink School of Medicine Huntsville Regional Medical Campus, passed away Feb. 2, 2022. Knight retired from the campus in 2020 after 35 years of service.
Brenessa Lindeman, M.D., MEHP, FACS, has been named assistant dean for Graduate Medical Education in the UAB Heersink School of Medicine, a new position created to support initiatives improving residents’ and fellows’ ability to practice medicine in a safe learning environment.

Jennie Craft, MPPM, C-TAGME, received the 2021 GME Institutional Coordinator Excellence Award from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, recognizing her leadership and dedication to residency and fellowship training.

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredits residency and fellowship programs and will be on site October 30-November 1. The team will consist of 5 MDs. The review will focus on the clinical setting in which the residents/fellows train to ensure the setting promotes quality care and prepares residents to be safe health practitioners. It is referred to as the CLER visit (Clinical Learning Environment Review).

UAB Graduate Medical Education hosted an orientation to welcome over 180 new residents and fellows on Wednesday, June 20. Throughout the day, residents and fellows enjoyed attending various sessions that covered topics to prepare them to begin training at UAB.
