The University-Wide Interdisciplinary Research Center (UWIRC) Program is recognized as one of UAB’s signature programs. The Program promotes outstanding interdisciplinary research across the spectrum of science and scholarship enhancing the development of partnerships across departments and schools.
For those groups preparing to submit either pilot or full UWIRC applications, please note that the Center Director must have from 3% to 10% effort on the award. This effort may be paid for from the UWIRC award, or cost-shared by the department, division or school. If the effort will be covered by cost sharing, please include a brief letter from the Chair or Dean stating the commitment to cover the effort.
