Nationally recognized for her expertise in cardiovascular disease prevention, health promotion, behavioral interventions, women’s heart health, and eHealth and digital health trends, Jackson builds bridges that transcend divisions, departments, and schools.

Jackson came to UAB in April 2018, and has since left her footprint as chair for the American Heart Association’s Committee on Social Determinants of Health and chair for the AHA Council on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research. Her current clinical work includes attending on UAB’s Cardiology Consultation Service and in the Coronary Care Unit at the Birmingham VA Medical Center.

Last year, Jackson further developed her skillset by enrolling in the ELAM® program at Drexel University, a yearlong fellowship tailored to women faculty in medicine, dentistry, public health, and pharmacy schools.

ELAM’s® mission is to increase the number of women in senior academic leadership positions in hopes that they will change the culture of health organizations to become more inclusive, accepting of different perspectives, and responsive to societal needs. The program enhances participants’ skills through executive education, personal leadership assessments and coaching, and networking and mentoring activities while concentrating on women’s unique challenges in high-level leadership positions.
