The University of Alabama at Birmingham Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine celebrated its recent accreditation, the highest level of accreditation available to a medical school in the United States by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Will Brooks, Ph.D., has been named assistant dean for Preclinical Education in the UAB Heersink School of Medicine, a new position created to support the delivery of active and engaging instruction in the preclinical modules.

In part 2 of our LCME series, Self-Study Task Force co-chairs Irfan Asif, M.D., and Lanita Carter, Ph.D., share what we learned about ourselves as a school during preparations for the 2022 visit, happening next week, April 11-13.
