Mario Sims is a social epidemiologist and Science Officer in the Jackson Heart Study and an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine of the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). His research focuses on understanding the social determinants of health disparities, with a specific interest in examining how racism, stress, and psychosocial factors (as well as traditional biomedical risk factors) combine to influence cardiovascular disease disparities between racial and ethnic groups.
