Lincoln L. Berland, M.D., has been named professor emeritus in the Department of Radiology in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine.

 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Lincoln L. Berland, M.D., has been named professor emeritus in the Department of Radiology in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine. The appointment was made by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees during its meeting Sept. 18.

Berland joined the UAB faculty in 1983 as associate professor and was named professor in 1989. He held a number of clinical and administrative positions in the department, including most recently as vice chair for quality improvement and patient safety and chief of the 3D imaging laboratory.

Berland is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, and Association of University Radiologists. He has been listed in America's Top Doctors and Best Doctors in America and is internationally recognized for his research in ultrasound and computed body tomography.

Berland earned his medical degree from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis and completed his residency in radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals.
