The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s archivist will be available for interviews about the history of UAB as the university prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

 

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Tim Pennycuff, UAB archivist, will be available for interviews about the history of UAB as the university prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Historic photos from the 1960s and '70s of Birmingham and the Southside area that became the UAB campus also will be available. Pennycuff will be available Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m., at The Reynolds Historical Library, located on the third floor of the Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences, 1700 University Blvd.

UAB will host its first University Day celebrating the anniversary with a ceremony led by UAB President Carol Z. Garrison and UAB Provost Eli Capilouto Thursday, Sept. 24.

UAB enrolled its first students as an autonomous campus in the three-campus University of Alabama System in September 1969. A chronology of its growth and development is online at http://www.uab.edu/historical/uabchron.html.
