Birmingham Art Music Alliance (BAMA) Concert, 7:30 p.m. in UAB's Mary Culp Hulsey Recital Hall, 950 13th St. South. The first concert of the BAMA season, "INTER VIVOS," or "between living persons," captures the spirit of this program of duets and collaborations between living composers and performers. Featuring traditional wind band music, including music by Sousa, Holst and Elgar. The UAB Wind Symphony comprises the best undergraduate and graduate wind and percussion players on campus. UAB Faculty Recital, 7 p.m. in Alys Stephens Center Reynolds-Kirschbaum Recital Hall, 1200 10th Ave. South. UAB Music Associate Professor Denise Gainey, D.M.A., clarinet, and Dale Reynolds, M.M., piano, assisted by Kathleen Costello, principal clarinetist with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. The theme of the recital is "Grenadilla Gems," a reference to the African wood from which the clarinet is made. The program will include clarinet music of France, Italy, Germany and Poland, with works by Schmitt, Lutoslawski, Mendelssohn, Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Milhaud. Admission is free. UAB Choirs Fall Concert, 8 p.m. in Alys Stephens Center Jemison Concert Hall, 1200 10th Ave. South. Conducted by Philip Copeland. The Fall Concert will feature the award-winning UAB Concert Choir and UAB Chamber Singers singing music by European composers Zoltán Kodaly and William Byrd and American composers Daniel Pinkham and Robert Shaw. The UAB Concert Choir will be featured later this year at the Southern Regional Convention of the American Choral Directors Association. Admission is free. UAB Piano Series: Chinese pianist Chu Fang Huang, winner of the 2005 Cleveland International Piano Competition. 4 p.m. in Alys Stephens Center Reynolds-Kirschbaum Recital Hall, 1200 10th Ave. South. As first-prize winner of the 2005 Cleveland International Piano Competition and a finalist in the 12th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005, Huang has made concert appearances throughout the United States. She made her Lincoln Center debut at Alice Tully Hall in November 2005 and won the 2006 Young Concert Artists International Auditions.
