BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Stephen J. O'Connor, Ph.D., FACHE, a professor in the Department of Health Services Administration in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Health Professions, has been appointed editor of the Journal of Healthcare Management.

This prestigious journal, published by the American College of Healthcare Executives, is the nation's leading health-care management journal that merges the interests of those responsible for leading health-care-delivery organizations and those studying health-care management and leadership.

O'Connor's appointment as editor of a national journal follows that of his colleagues in the Health Services Administration department, S. Robert Hernandez, Dr.P.H., and Richard Shewchuk, Ph.D., who were appointed co-editors of the Journal of Health Administration Education this past year.

"These appointments further demonstrate the national prominence of the UAB Department of Health Services Administration in health-care management education and are indicative of the high regard the program enjoys among both academic institutions and within the industry," said Harold Jones, Ph.D., dean of the School of Health Professions.
