In May 2008, UAB was awarded the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the National Institutes of Health.  As a part of this award, the UAB Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is pleased to announce inaugural funding for the CCTS Mentored Career Development Program (CCTS KL2).

The Clinical and Translational Science Award KL2 mechanism will be awarded to help support two junior faculty as CCTS KL2 Scholars facilitate their development and participation in the conduct of clinical and translational research.  Funding will be available to KL2 scholars for up to five years. Receipt of a KL2 award will provide salary for protected time devoted to both formal research training and for hands-on research.

Scholars will receive 75 percent salary support, not to exceed $82,500 annually, plus fringe. In addition to salary support, other expenses (including tuition/fees and research related expenses) will be provided in the amount of $46,535 per year.

The application deadline is December 15. Contact Audrey Wrenn at awrenn@uab.edu or 205-975-8333 for application materials.
