Lanning B. Kline, M.D., professor of Ophthalmology at the UAB School of Medicine, was recently named a director of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Kline, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, has been a faculty member with the UAB Department of Ophthalmology since 1979, and has been professor of ophthalmology and associate professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery since 1990. He served as chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology from 1998 to 2011 and during that time he was awarded the EyeSight Foundation of Alabama Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology.
He is certified by the by the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a member of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts, as well as textbooks and monographs dealing with neuro-ophthalmology. He received a Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of both the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society and the American College of Surgeons.
Kline currently serves as an Associate Examiner of the American Board of Ophthalmology and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology.
