Heersink School of Medicine research faculty are invited to attend a new faculty support group beginning Friday, Sept. 30 at 11:30 a.m.

Vladimir Parpura, M.D., Ph.D., professor in the Department of Neurobiology, is listed as the second highest cited experts in the world on astrocytes.

As the Heersink School of Medicine grows, the leadership has defined four new research focus areas to grow over the next five to seven years. This part explores the next focus area, I-4ward.

The Heersink School of Medicine’s Chapter of the Association of Women Surgeons volunteered at the First Light Shelter, serving breakfast to homeless women and children while also mentoring high school girls interested in the medical field.

The Department of Otolaryngology is pleased to announce Erin Buczek, M.D., as one of this year's recipients of the 2022 President's Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Medical student Hana Habchi has been awarded the 2022 Sara Crews M.D., Endowed Leadership Scholarship, which provides full tuition for the third year of medical school and is renewable for the fourth year. It recognizes excellence in academics, service, and leadership.

Because of the generosity of volunteers, the Community Free Clinic of Huntsville improves health care access and health of underserved communities. UAB Heersink School of Medicine’s faculty, trainees, and students join hands to serve underprivileged communities in Huntsville.

Heersink School of Medicine faculty and leadership recently identified four new research focus areas that will help inform the future direction of research at our Academic Medical Center. Heersink communications is highlighting each area and exploring what it means for our future.
