Five faculty members in the UAB School of Medicine have been named the 2018 class of James A. Pittman Jr., M.D., Scholars, a program created to recognize the contributions of junior faculty and support the recruitment and retention of highly competitive scientists and physician-scientists.

The AMC21 School of Medicine Research Retreat met on Jan. 19, 2018, with focus on “Strategic Recruitment in the SOM.” As part of the AMC21-five-year goal to reach the top 20 in NIH funding, UAB will need to recruit a net of 80 to 84 funded faculty and retain and develop current faculty.

The interdisciplinary team led by the UAB Department of Pediatrics was awarded a grant to create the Family Care Connect Program.
