The annual UAB Army ROTC Military Ball continues its legacy of honoring cadets for their commitment to the nation.

ROTCjoomlaThe University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Army ROTC will hold its annual Military Ball to honor the cadets  Wednesday, March 27, at 8 p.m. at Regions Field, Diamonds Direct Ballroom, 1401 First Ave. South.

“We host a military ball annually for our cadets in order to further their understanding of the Army culture,” said LTC Karl Reuter, UAB Army ROTC professor of military science. “We are excited this year to have a local hero, UAB head football coach Bill Clark, as the guest speaker for this honorary event.”

The Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program at UAB began in the fall of 1980 as part of a TRADOC project known as “Expand the Base.” UAB was one of the 41 universities around the country selected to become an extension center. The thrust of the program was to increase the Army’s output of junior officers. An extension center relationship was established with UAB’s growing the program from 12 cadets in September 1980 to now becoming designated as a host institution.
