When news breaks, the UAB News Studio can quickly connect UAB experts with national broadcast and cable outlets anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Located on UAB’s campus in the heart of Birmingham’s historic Southside, the UAB News Studio can transmit live or pre-recorded interviews through a fiber optic video circuit through the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) to the Encompass Communications teleport in Atlanta. From there it is patchable to national fiber networks through Vyvx, AT&T and T-Systems international fiber network. An ISDN line is available for radio interviews.
