UAB to host seventh Innovations in Wellness conference

Wellness Conference WebThe University of Alabama at Birmingham will host the 2018 Innovations in Wellness conference Friday, Dec. 7, at the Birmingham DoubleTree hotel.

This event features speakers’ providing insight and best practices for an array of topics, such as health disparities and health literacy, the opioid crisis, the undermanaged impact of employee obesity, and the value of a financially healthy workforce. The conference will begin with opening remarks provided by Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin, followed by a special session focused on leaving a legacy of leadership, presented by former Regions Bank CEO Grayson Hall.

“With an influx of information on social media and the internet, it is extremely important to hear leaders in the field of health and wellness share best practice and expertise regarding current trends and significant topics influencing the well-being of our professional culture today,” said UAB Director of Employee Wellness Anna Threadcraft. “This conference is Alabama’s leading one-day health and well-being conference, created intentionally for wellness coordinators, medical professionals, human resource leaders, business owners and health enthusiasts.”

This year, the conference will include a unique emphasis on students and interns in the health and wellness field through an exclusive breakout session offering tips and tools for those preparing to enter the workforce.
