UAB Graduate Medical Education hosted an orientation to welcome over 180 new residents and fellows on Wednesday, June 20. Throughout the day, residents and fellows enjoyed attending various sessions that covered topics to prepare them to begin training at UAB.

Alice R. Goepfert, M.D., professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, has been named associate dean for Graduate Medical Education in the School of Medicine and Designated Institutional Official for UAB Hospital.
The new doctors spent the day Monday, June 20 in orientation, where faculty and staff across UAB Hospital and School of Medicine familiarized them with  policies, procedures, priorities and initiatives.
Students from the UAB chapter of the American Physician Scientist Association travel to the Birmingham YMCA Youth Center monthly to demonstrate fun experiments to engage the YMCA after school students and ignite their curiosity in science.
Research published in The American Journal of Medicine reports that gender disparities in income aren’t a problem just for women in medium- and lower-wage positions.
