The Association for Hospital Medical Education declared Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, as its inaugural GME Professionals Day to recognize staff leadership in residency and fellowship training programs, as well as GME administration. Meet a few of the leaders working in our programs at UAB.

Two new faculty members have joined the UAB Medicine Office of Wellness, each as a part-time effort in the Professional Development Office.

The School of Medicine’s Office for Diversity and Inclusion hosted its third annual Diversity Fair Jan. 25, 2019 in the atrium of North Pavilion. Hundreds of guests attended and enjoyed wandering among the booths to sample cuisines while listening to the sound of international music.
Keneshia Kirksey, M.D., and Laura Kezar, M.D., were recently highlighted as impactful members by the Association of Academic Physiatrists in celebration of National Women in Medicine Month.

UAB honored seven Outstanding Women during a special ceremony on March 15 in the UAB Alumni House. Three of those women have strong ties to the School of Medicine.

After 11 years in leadership as the associate dean for students, Laura Kezar, M.D., is stepping out of the role effective August 1. She will continue as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
UAB’s team of rehab psychologists provides care and pathways to better the quality of life for patients who suffer from a multitude of traumatic injuries.
Ph.D. candidate Kathryn Henley competed against 45 students to win first place at the 3MT Regional Competition in Annapolis, Maryland, on March 5.
