The University of Alabama at Birmingham Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine celebrated its recent accreditation, the highest level of accreditation available to a medical school in the United States by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Thanks to grant funds from the Comprehensive Urban Underserved and Rural Experience (CU2RE) Program, virtual reality and expanded simulation training are making their way to medical education in Huntsville.

The annual Educational Research & Innovations in Clinical & Health Sciences (ENRICH) Week features a poster session, keynote lecture and emerging educators workshop.
Will Brooks, Ph.D., has been named assistant dean for Preclinical Education in the UAB Heersink School of Medicine, a new position created to support the delivery of active and engaging instruction in the preclinical modules.
MS4 Khawla “Shefa” Suhaila was awarded the 2022-23 Selected Professions Fellowship from the American Association of University Women.

Five faculty members across the UAB Heersink School of Medicine were selected as new Clinical Skills Scholars for 2022-23. The Clinical Skills Scholars are group of 32 clinical faculty selected for their excellence in teaching, who continuously develop the clinical skills of medical students.
