The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s comprehensive Heart and Vascular program has expanded into Alexander City with the hiring of cardiologist Kevin Sublett, M.D., and the creation of the new UAB Heart and Vascular Clinic of Central Alabama.

Sublett, M.D., who has been practicing at Cardiology of Central Alabama since 1999, has joined UAB’s staff as assistant professor of interventional cardiology in the Division of Cardiovascular Disease. He will continue to practice at his current location in the Russell Medical Center at 3368 Highway 280, Suite 130, in Alexander City.

“This is an exciting opportunity for me and also for our current and future patients here at the UAB Heart and Vascular Clinic of Central Alabama,” Sublett said. “Our patients will now be able to access UAB Medicine locally, which is a tremendous benefit for many of whom  may have difficulty driving to Birmingham for their health care. The services here will include the latest, most advanced techniques and procedures from UAB’s world-renowned heart physicians, nurses and staff — all brought back home to the people of Alexander City.”

UAB Heart and Vascular Clinic of Central Alabama’s medical staff is fully trained in the field of cardiovascular disease, and Sublett is board certified in cardiology, interventional cardiology and internal medicine.

“Dr. Sublett has spent more than 15 years in the Alex City area and has become a trusted physician in the community, dedicated to giving his patients the highest level of service,” said Sumanth Prabhu, M.D., director of the Division of Cardiovascular Disease in UAB’s School of Medicine. “UAB’s goal is to offer the highest quality of care while setting community standards and exceeding patients’ expectations. Dr. Sublett strives to provide the best in acute, long-term and preventive care, and we are excited that he is with UAB.”
