Site preparation begins for the construction of a Women’s Fast Pitch Softball field and parking on the site of the former tennis courts and adjacent area along Sixth Avenue South between 11th and 12th streets. The women’s team has played its home games at nearby George Ward Park since the team was created in 2000. The new facility is expected to be operational by January 2010.
Physician faculty and residents will begin seeing patients of the Russell General Internal Medicine and Gynecology continuity clinics at Birmingham Health Care Clinic beginning in July, coinciding with the new School of Medicine residency year.

UAB faculty are encouraged to submit entries for The Conner Prize, awarded for an essay in the history of ideas. The prize carries an award of $250. The deadline for submission is Wednesday, Sept. 16.
