The Callahan Eye Hospital at the University of Alabama at Birmingham has been awarded the 2013 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for dedication to inpatient care. The award honors hospitals that have reached the 95th percentile for patient satisfaction, employee engagement, physician engagement or clinical quality performance. Callahan will be recognized in Orlando at the National Client Conference, Nov. 18-20.

“We have spent a lot of time talking to our employees about how we communicate and how we engage our patients while they are here,” said Brian Spraberry, president and CEO of the hospital. “This award recognizes the dedication that Callahan employees have to patient care and the commitment to making eye surgery an excellent patient experience.”

Callahan Eye Hospital was also recognized by Press Ganey for patient satisfaction in 2010 and 2011.

Callahan Eye Hospital is celebrating 50 years as Alabama’s only facility dedicated to providing quality medical and surgical eye care to the people of Alabama and the Southeast.
