Supporting Students

Student Counseling Services will host a week dedicated to promoting suicide prevention awareness Sept. 17 – 20, at various locations across campus. These events aim to facilitate suicide-related discussion with faculty and peers, as they train students to increase their ability to recognize suicide ideation among peers and raise awareness about campus and community crisis resources.

Nearly 50 percent of college students experience overwhelming anxiety or suicidal thoughts. One in 10 students seriously considers attempting suicide; and 1,100 students commit suicide each year. Student Counseling Services has sought out to support students in achieving personal, academic, and lifelong goals by providing individual and group mental health services, prevention and outreach programming, crisis and emergency support, and consultation services.

Please come out and get informed so that you can make lasting connections and be able to help a friend, peer, or yourself with the resources offered in these engaging events!
