Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation (AQAF), a group devoted to serving the healthcare community in Alabama through the oversight of Medicare programs and programs designed to improve the quality of healthcare throughout the state—much like Live HealthSmart Alabama— decided this year to close its doors. After a robust vetting process, it chose to devote a large portion of its resources to Live HealthSmart Alabama.
Tim Stettheimer, Ph.D., treasurer of AQAF, explained that a proven track record of success in areas where Live HealthSmart Alabama has already been working was key in winning their support. “We found what has been accomplished so far in terms of food accessibility and education showed us a track record that was significant.”
AQAF was intentional in its sponsorship of the Mobile Wellness Van to help patients get a better hold on their understanding of their health.
“We were excited by the particulars around mobile health capabilities. Early screening is so important in addressing many conditions that can be treated if detected early,” says Stettheimer.
He also echoed the mission of Live HealthSmart to bring together a wide coalition of partners throughout the state to solve a problem that can only be addressed with broad support.
“It is incumbent on organizations and individuals in Alabama to pay attention and participate in the things Live HealthSmart Alabama is doing. We can’t change the health of Alabamians without doing it together.”
