Jeffrey R. Curtis, MD, MS, MPH

Director

Jeffrey R. Curtis, MD, MS, MPH; is the Harbert-Ball Professor of Medicine and is board certified both in Rheumatology and in Clinical Informatics by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. His expertise is in pharmacoepidemiology, comparative effectiveness and safety research, registries, large pragmatic trials, and clinical informatics. His disease-related research areas are rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and osteoporosis. He serves on the ACR’s Registry and Health Information Technology (RHIT) Committee and co-directs one of the two national Data and Analytic Centers (DACs) for the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), analyzing the ACR’s national electronic health record (EHR)-based registry RISE.  He is Co-Director of the UAB PharmacoEpidemiology and pharmacoEconomics Research (PEER) unit, and UAB PI of the PCORI funded ARthritis Patient Partnership with Comparative Effectiveness Researchers (ArthritisPower) Patient-Powered Research Network (PPRN). 

Kenneth G. Saag, MD, MSc

Executive Committee Member

Kenneth G. Saag, MD, MSc, is the Jane Knight Lowe Professor, Vice Chairman of Medicine and Division Director of the UAB Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, and Director of the UAB NIAMS (P50) funded Center of Research Translation (CORT) in Gout and Hyperuricemia, and the UAB Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) TL1/KL2 training programs. He is Associate Director of the UAB Multi-disciplinary Clinical Research Center (NIAMS P60).  Dr. Saag is a practicing rheumatologist with expertise in development, conduct, analysis and dissemination of results obtained from high visibility musculoskeletal clinical research. He is site PI for a CTSA funded award focused on DCI use for improving clinical trial consent among minority populations. He is the immediate past President of the National Osteoporosis Board of Trustees, a standing member of the Neurologic, Aging and Musculoskeletal Epidemiology (NAMES) study section and a member of the American Association of Physicians.

Phillip Jeffrey Foster, MPH

Program Director

Phillip Jeffrey Foster, MPH, is an experienced project coordinator with advanced training in epidemiology and biostatistics. He is a graduate of the UAB Healthcare Leadership Academy and has multiple years of experience managing and coordinating clinical research studies activities, including large center grants and complex, multi-year studies.

Stephanie Stafford Ledbetter, MS

Administrative Director

Stephanie Stafford Ledbetter, MS, has 15+ years of experience in research program administration, has recently served as the Administrative Director of the Comprehensive Arthritis, Musculoskeletal, Bone and Autoimmunity Center (CAMBAC).
