We asked the 1st Year Executive Committee their thoughts on 1.) becoming a physician, 2.) Birmingham, and 3.) the UAB School of Medicine. Here’s what they had to say:

I grew up in Hong Kong, then moved to Dothan, AL to complete high school. As a traditional student, I completed my bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at UAB, with career goals to teach, to help patients in achieving their best quality-of-life, and to be an advocate in public health issues such as mental health and environmental health.

For more than 20 years, UAB has recognized the extraordinary contributions of outstanding women faculty, staff, students, administrators and those women in the community to whom we owe respect and gratitude. The Commission on the Status of Women is honored to accept nominations for the 2019 Outstanding Women Awards. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25.
