Rachel Z. Bass, M.D. received her undergraduate degree from LSU, majoring in English Literature. She subsequently attended medical school and completed her internship at LSU New Orleans. She then completed residency, where she served as chief resident 2018-2019. She completed musculoskeletal fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine the following year.

Dr. Bass joined the Department of Radiology musculoskeletal section in 2020. She currently serves as Assistant Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiology residency. She is also the Co-director of Wellness for Faculty.

Dirk Rehder, M.D. completed medical school at Medical College of Wisconsin Medical School.  He then completed his residency at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. After completing his residency, he pursued fellowships in Neuroadiology at Columbia Presbyterian in New York, New York and Musculoskeletal Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  Upon completion of his fellowships, Dr. Rehder joined the UAB Radiology Department practicing in both Neuroradiology and Musculoskeletal Imaging. 

Dr. Rehder serves on the Osteoporosis Steering Committee and the CT Working Group Committee at UAB.

Carl A. Narducci, Jr., M.D. attended Samford School of Pharmacy and UAB graduate school where he received a Bachelor of Pharmacy and Masters in Molecular Biopsy. He attended UAB Heersink School of Medicine before completing his residency and Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship at UAB. Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Narducci joined the Department of Radiology at UAB in July 2009. He is currently the Chief of Emergency Radiology, Chief of MSK Ultrasound, and Medical Director of Inpatient Radiology.

Matthew C. Larrison, M.D., completed his undergraduate training at Troy University in Troy, Alabama, followed by medical school at the UAB Heersink School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency training in Diagnostic Radiology. After completing his residency, Dr. Larrison pursued a one year fellowship with Radiology Associates of Birmingham specializing in Musculoskeletal Imaging. Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Larrison joined the musculoskeletal imaging section at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Larrison served as the MSK Imaging Fellowship Director from 2009 until 2013 and also served as Director of Radiology at UAB Highlands Hospital from September 2010 until June 2012. Dr. Larrison served as Chief of the Musculoskeletal Imaging Section since September 2010 until April 2015 and is currently serving on the Membership Committee of the Southern Radiological Conference. Dr. Larrison’s area of expertise is MSK Imaging and Interventions.
