Dr. Kalbi joined the UAB Department of Radiology in October 2024, where he serves as an clinical assistant professor in the Division of Molecular Imaging and Therapeutics. He is deeply passionate about the clinical practice of Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Kalbi's clinical interests include multimodality molecular imaging techniques such as SPECT/CT, PET/CT, and PET/MRI. He is also focused on Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT), Therapeutics, Nuclear Cardiology, and Education. His research focuses on the development of new radiopharmaceuticals for molecular imaging and theranostics in oncology, as well as advancements in Targeted Radioligand Therapies. Dr. Kalbi actively participates in national and international leadership roles. These include serving as an American College of Nuclear Medicine (ACNM) Intern (2025–2027), Vice President of Education for the Nuclear Medicine Residents Organization (NMRO), and Secretary of the Indo-American Society of Nuclear Medicine (IASNM). Eric Turner, M.D., was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama before matriculating to Vanderbilt University to earn his B.A. in neuroscience and history. He earned his M.D. from the UAB School of Medicine in 2018, and completed his radiology residency at UAB. Turner completed his dual pathway Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine pathway, and is became board certified through the American Board of Nuclear Medicine in 2023. He is also certified in abdominal radiology, completing and Abdominal Imaging fellowship in 2024. Turner is passionate about resident education, PET imaging, and genitourinary MRI. He has a particular interest iin PSMA-PET imaging. When he is not working, he enjoys exploring the excellent cuisine of Birmingham, and spending time with his incredible wife. Jonathan McConathy, M.D., Ph.D., received a B.S. degree in Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then completed the Medical Scientist Training Program at Emory University with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience under the mentorship of Mark Goodman, Ph.D., and Michael Owens, Ph.D. He pursued postgraduate training at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) in St. Louis, Missouri through a residency in Diagnostic Radiology followed by a fellowship in Nuclear Medicine. Dr. McConathy then joined the faculty of MIR in July 2010 where he served as the Co-Director of the Radiology Research Residency. Dr. McConathy joined UAB Department of Radiology in December 2015 and serves as the Director of the Division of Molecular Imaging and Therapeutics. In addition to clinical practice in Nuclear Medicine, he remains actively involved in the development and application of positron emission tomography (PET) tracers for oncology and neuroimaging as well as the use of simultaneous PET/MRI for both clinical indications and research.
