Robert C. Boggs, Ph.D., earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Austin Peay State University from his hometown in Clarksville, TN, followed by a Ph.D. in Diagnostic Medical Physics from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He spent two years as a medical physics resident at University of Alabama at Birmingham.

During his time as a graduate student at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, the primary focus of his research was in the area of traumatic brain injury, diaschisis, and quantitative traumatic brain injury. He was awarded a TL1 Grant during his time as a graduate student that helped fund work on the investigation of acute and chronic metabolic diaschisis after traumatic brain injuries.

In 2020 Dr. Boggs joined the faculty of UAB Radiology as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Medical Physics and Engineering, where he will be supporting the clinical and instructional activities in General Radiography and research activities in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Mammography. His interests include continuing his research traumatic brain injury, diaschisis, and quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging along with Mammography.
