The University of Alabama at Birmingham Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine will celebrate Match Day 2022 on Friday, March 18, at the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center, 1200 10th Ave. South. At the ceremony, members of the 2022 graduating class will learn where and in which medical specialty they will complete their residency training.
The first match will be announced at 11 a.m., following a short program beginning at 10:45 a.m. Attendance for the in-person ceremony is being limited to fourth-year medical students and their guests. The ceremony will be streamed live online at 10:45 a.m. at uab.edu/matchday. Media crews are invited to attend Match Day in person.
Match Day is coordinated by the National Resident Matching Program, which provides an impartial venue for matching residency programs with more than 44,000 applicants — including graduates from U.S. medical schools, international medical and U.S. osteopathic schools — who compete for available residency positions each year.
