Esther Park and Sun-A Park will perform a program of music by three American composers and close their recital with Gershwin’s famous “Rhapsody in Blue.”
Choose from student recitals, guest artists and faculty performances, including Yakov Kasman, DMA, with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, plus Amadeae Duo and the fifth annual PRISM Concert.
Wallick will perform his diverse program “The Virtuosic Fugue,” culminating with one of Beethoven’s most important piano sonatas, which has never been performed in the UAB Piano Series’ history.
Described as “the Spanish pianist of his generation,” Mendez will perform works by Chopin, then dedicate the second half to music by Spanish composers Soler, Granados and Albeniz.
The Department of Music presents recitals and concerts each fall and spring semester — and many of the performances are free and open to the public.
Breen’s performances have been described as “truly show-stopping” by Gramophone UK. She will perform works by Bach, Medtner, Schoenberg and Mozart.
In 2022, American pianist Clayton Stephenson became the first Black finalist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
On the schedule are pianists Clayton Stephenson and Rachel Breen, guest artists, plus a variety of faculty recitals featuring art songs, chamber works and more.
The College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Music presents recitals and concerts by students, faculty and guest artists, and many of the performances are free.
Broberg, winner of the 2021 American Pianists Award, will perform works by Medtner, Fauré and Schumann.

The College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Music will present a full season of concerts with in-person audiences for the first time since March of 2020.
The UAB Piano Series will present Asiya Korepanova on Oct. 10, Marina Lomazov on Jan. 23, 2022, and Kenny Broberg on March 27, 2022.
This event has been canceled. On the program for Liu’s Birmingham performance are Schumann’s Arabesque Op. 18, Schubert’s Six Musical Moments, Op. 94, and Brahms’ Piano Sonata No. 3, Op. 5.
Schein, dubbed “one of the premier Chopin pianists of our time,” will perform an all-Chopin program for her UAB Piano Series performance.
The UAB Piano Series brings the world’s finest pianists to Birmingham and is directed by UAB Distinguished Professor of Piano Yakov Kasman, a Van Cliburn medalist.
The UAB Department of Music this fall will present “Chamber Music @ AEIVA,” pianist Asiya Korepanova, Amicitia Duo, “Arias and Art Songs,” and more.
From the United States to Europe, these professors from the departments of Art and Art History, Music, and Theatre are in demand.
On the program for Yeol Eum Son’s 7 p.m. performance are 24 Preludes op. 28 by Chopin and 13 Preludes op. 32 by Rachmaninoff.
Lugansky, who has performed for sold-out audiences at UAB, will perform works by Debussy, Scriabin and Rachmaninoff.
