Books, objects and records within the Birmingham Museum of Art’s library inspired the content of the works, created by 11 Department of Art and Art History students.
The third salon, “Arts & Humanities,” is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the UAB Department of Art and Art History’s Project Space. The featured panelists will be music producer, conductor and University Professor of Music Henry Panion III, Ph.D., documentary filmmaker Michele Forman, and poet Adam Vines, all UAB faculty members.
Works by UAB Department of Art and Art History photography students are now showcased in UAB’s Heritage Hall.
“Rachel M. Ejem: Intersections” features Ejem’s recent research using mixed-media drawings and installation to investigate mathematical and metaphorical ideas of intersection.

Students from Medium: Art Club at UAB will exhibit selected works in a juried exhibition, while Assistant Professor of Sculpture Stacey Holloway’s solo exhibition, “Herds,” will also be on view. A free reception is set for July 15.
Bailey Barrow of Pinson is the only student in Alabama to receive this award for 2016. She is a student in the UAB College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Art and Art History.

Each year, The Bell Center invites artists to collaborate with the center’s students and create a work of art that commemorates the graduating class. This year’s legacy piece was a collage of the young graduates’ first initials.
The exhibition, presented by the College of Arts and Sciences’ Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts, features masterpieces of 19th and early 20th century American art selected from the Warners’ private collection.
