Blazer Welcome is designed to assist first year students in their transition to UAB by offering programs and opportunities that cover a multitude of topics from getting involved and learning about UAB to staying safe and navigating the campus. Saturday, August 27th from 7:00 PM - Midnight - Student Center Takeover
This year the office of Student Involvement and Leadership is taking over the student center the Saturday before classes start. We’ll be offering karaoke, gaming, a new release movie showing and dance party.
Sunday, August 28th from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM - Meet the Greeks Cookout
UAB has four Greek councils that make up its Greek community. The Meet the Greeks Cookout is an opportunity to meet and mingle with the members of our 26 Greek lettered organizations.
Sunday, August 28th from 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM - Fall Welcome Concert
The Fall Welcome Concert is a time for the UAB family to get together for some great entertainment. Held in the heart of the undergraduate campus on the Sunday before classes start, the concert has become one of the most anticipated events on the UAB calendar and your student won’t want to miss it!
Thursday, September 1st from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM - Student Life Day
Student Life Day celebrates the many ways students can get involved on campus by providing a space where students can learn about life beyond the classroom. Student Life Day is open to student organizations, athletic teams and university departments.
Tuesday, September 13th from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM - Birmingham 101
Birmingham 101 will connect UAB to the West End neighborhood. During this panel discussion students will have the opportunity to hear from Dr. Ray Watts, President for UAB, Earl Bennett, former NFL athlete, Dr. Deborah Voltz, Dean of UAB’s School of Education and several more. Students will have the opportunity to participate in community outreach in the West End neighborhood in the weeks following the event.
