About 30 members of the Student Affairs Division volunteered all day on Oct. 28 to help grout, paint and hang crown molding at the 3rd Annual UAB Benevolent Fund Habitat House. The North Pratt City home will belong to Toni Byrd and her daughter Sydney. Byrd is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a student at UAB.

“Our home will provide us with better living conditions, put the thousands of rental payments into something we can say is ours, and help put something away for a rainy day. We could not have received this opportunity without your generosity,” Byrd was quoted as saying.

The dedication for her home will be Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. on Veteran’s Day.
