Birmingham, AL — Sodexo Human Resources Manager at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Richard Ellison, was selected by the Birmingham Area Governor’s Committee (BAGC) to receive the highly distinguished Collaboration Award on October 19, 2018.

The Collaboration Award recognizes an individual that assists in providing employment to people with disabilities and go the extra mile to form sincere and long lasting relationships with these employees. The award is signed by Governor Kay Ivey and presented annually by the head of the BAGC, Kim Hawkins.

“I am honored to receive this award and to be recognized for something I do every day. I love the relationships I build with the employees,” said Ellison after being asked how he felt about his achievement.

Currently, UAB Campus Dining employs 12 individuals with disabilities as a part of a collaboration between Ellison and the programs he works with which include United Ability, Triumph Services, and Arc of Central Alabama.
