In the second year of the Strategic Innovation Grant, the Division of Student Affairs received 10 Strategic Innovation Grant applications. In the first review of applications, three applications were chosen for presentation: GyneWellness, Family Engagement as a Strategy for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention, and Second Year International Alternative Break.
A committee of seven faculty, staff and a student evaluated final applications and scored presentations using a rubric focused on innovation and high impact practice. The committee made final recommendations for award based on the rubric score of the grant application and presentation.
Family Engagement as a Strategy for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention was awarded $8,300 for their innovative approach. This Strategic Innovation Grant was submitted by: Kristina Canfield, Substance Abuse Prevention & Recovery Coordinator with Wellness Promotion; Shawra Rainer, Assistant Director of Student Conduct; and Meredith Kahl, Director of Parent and Family Services.
